2023 State Envirothon Competition:
Tennessee Envirothon
Envirothon is an annual environmental and natural resource conservation academic competition for high school students organized by NCF-Envirothon; a program of the National Conservation Foundation. The competition is held at regional, state, and North American levels with teams competing across the United States and Canada. Envirothon combines in-class and hands-on experiential environmental education in a competition setting involving a problem-solving presentation and written field tests. The competition tests students on five core subjects- aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, and wildlife- along with a fifth annually-changing subtopic which focuses on relevant environmental issues. Currently, roughly 500,000 students from forty-five U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces/territories participate in the competition.

In Tennessee, the Envirothon is sponsored by the TN RC&D Council and comprises seven (7) Regional Contests plus several at-large regional contests with the winners participating in the State Competition.  The State Competition winner participates in the NCF Envirothon Competition for North America.
